A Million Pictures at the 11th International Seminar on the Origins and History of Cinema
At 11th International Seminar on the Origins and History of Cinema, project leader Frank Kessler from the research team Utrecht will present the research achieved and planned activties in A Million Pictures.
Since 1999, the Museum of Cinema and Girona University have jointly organized a seminar on the origins and history of cinema, now held every other year. The aim of this seminar, the only one of its kind on this subject in Spain, is to be both a forum for discussion and debate on a theme related to the origins and history of the cinema, and also a place where researchers can publish their research in these fields. Apart from the specific theme of the seminar, there is a section for papers on pre-cinema and early cinema. The topic of the 11th seminar is “Presences and representations of women in the early years of cinema 1895-1920” and is organised in cooperation with by the consolidated research group in Theories of Contemporary Art and the Spanish Ministry Economy and Competitiveness “Presencias y representaciones de la mujer en el cine de los orígenes (PRECINEMUJER)” (Presences and representations of women in the origins of cinema) Ref.
